On our way from Suyan Camp to the Ndutu area of the Serengeti we went by Gol Kopjes, an area well known for big cats. When we arrived there was no prey species in the area and it seemed completely devoid of mammals then we found a pride of lions, mostly on top of high boulders. As we were viewing them suddenly thousands and thousands of wildebeest came marching into the area. The highlight was in a different kopje where we were treated to a mother lion with very young cubs. Typically cubs are introduced to the pride at around 7 to 8 weeks of age so these cubs were likely less than 7 weeks old. For a long time there were two cubs with the mother and eventually they all moved over to where a 3rd cub appeared and they began nursing from their mother.
