After 7 years of virtually all Africa I decided to go for a different wildlife experience and what I most wanted to do was to attempt to observe polar bears in the Arctic environment.
This took me to the best location to see polar bears on ice, the Svalbard Archipelago above the Arctic Circle and the mainland of Norway. I traveled on Lindblad's National Geographic Explorer and had unbelievable sightings of polar bears. I photographed 25 different bears during 17 sightings and it far exceded my expectations. I was also thrilled to see blue whales and walruses in this incredible environment.
